Certifications make partners more competitive
Amazon Web Services (AWS) polled partners for feedback on its belief that those who engage in training and certification are in a stronger position as a result.
To paint a more complete picture of the value and impact of training and how it helps partners alleviate the skills crisis, the cloud player collaborated with 451 Research to conduct a global survey of partners.
The main finding was that 90% of AWS Partners agreed that having their staff undergo AWS training and certification puts them in a better competitive position to be successful over the next three to five years.
It has also become clear that talking to an expert is important for customers, with over 80% of partners saying it makes a difference to have certified staff on hand.
“Ingram Micro proudly surpassed the 200 AWS certification mark this year with the help of the AWS training and certification team,” said Tim Fitzgerald, vice president of Global Infrastructure as a Service ( IaaS) at Ingram Micro.
“Building the best cloud infrastructure requires deep technical knowledge and experience and we are committed to constantly strengthening our ability to provide partners and their customers with a high level of skills and technical expertise on a global scale,” a- he added.
On the skills front, more than half of those surveyed said investing in training and certifications has helped them recruit and retain cloud talent. Three-quarters of those surveyed added that having staff trained and certified by AWS improves their ability to innovate and stay competitive.
Steven Kuei, managing director of eCloudrover, said the training and certification provides a framework to help staff develop their skills.
“AWS training and certification is necessary for our employees in their career paths, and we have designed AWS certification as a measure of employee development plans. With a focus on AWS training courses and specialist certifications, the cloud skills of our employees are continuously improved, ”he said.
In a blog post sharing the results, Mark Daigle, director of partner training at AWS, called for more partners to look at the benefits of training and certifications.
“AWS training and certification helps AWS Partners deepen their AWS knowledge and skills, differentiate their business, and better serve their customers. We offer over 500 free, self-paced digital courses, on-demand webinars, and classroom training courses for business and technical professionals, ”he wrote.
“AWS Partners attribute a positive ROI to AWS training and certification, including improvements in business and operational efficiency, recruitment and retention,” he added.
